La Liga Week 2 – Bold Predictions

Girona enjoyed their inaugural La Liga game, earning a draw in the process

The opening round of La Liga didn’t disappoint. Girona raised a few eyebrows in their first ever game in Spain’s top-flight when they went 2-0 up at home to Atlético Madrid. Pablo Machin’s side couldn’t hold on and late goals from Ángel Correa and Giménez spared the visitors blushes. Elsewhere, the Champions had no problems picking up three points away to Deportivo. Barcelona also picked up three points, defeating Real Betis 2-0 at the Camp Nou. The media is reporting that Barça have reached an agreement to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembélé.

Three bold predictions

Real Sociedad v Villarreal

There always seems to be goals about when a game involves Real Socided. La Real are undefeated in their last seven league games and their fans will be expecting that run to continue. Tonight’s visitors lost 1-0 away to Levante on the opening day. It will be all smiles for Eusebio Sacristán as he watches his side heap misery on El Submarino. Real Sociedad will win by a margin of two goals, a margin that has been somewhat rare in recent meetings.

FC Girona v Malaga

Malaga had a disappointing start to the new season, losing 1-0 at home to Eibar. Míchel González must pick his players up and prepare them for their away trip to Girona. Cristhian Stuani scored a brace on his Girona debut and he will add another goal to his tally as league’s newcomers pick up their first win of the season. Manchester City have recently staked a majority share in Girona. The newly promoted side will benefit from City loanees.

Levante v Deportivo

Levante enjoyed the perfect start to life in the top-flight. Juan Ramón López Muñiz’s side picked up an impressive 1-0 home win against Villarreal. Deportivo visits the Ciutat de València looking for their first points of the season but they will have to wait. Levante will run out 3-0 winners, setting the early-season alarm bells ringing amongst the Depor faithful.
